China Three Gorges Corp announced that its 800 MW Rudong offshore wind power project in Jiangsu province has transmitted over 10 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity, China Daily reported. The project is situated in the Huangshayang sea area off the coast of Rudong county.

The installation operates as the world's highest-voltage (400 kV) and largest-capacity offshore wind flexible DC transmission facility. The operational milestone validates the commercial reliability of high-capacity flexible direct-current technology over long distances in offshore environments.

Unlike traditional alternating current subsea cables that incur significant electrical losses over extended routes, 400 kV flexible DC transmission enables China's offshore wind sector to develop projects in deeper, far-offshore marine areas.
